Young Artist Scholarship & Concert
The Denver Concert Band holds a yearly competition to encourage high school seniors to continue music performance. The Young Artist winner receives a scholarship, and in the final formal concert of the year, the artist performs a solo piece accompanied by the band.

Winners are selected by audition. For this year:
-
Piano-accompanied CDs or digital files with application form must be submitted by March 3, 2025
-
Finalists will be judged in a live audition on March 16, 2025
-
Winner will perform as a soloist and receive their scholarship on Apr 27, 2025

Attention Directors and Private Instructors: All solos submitted must have a published band accompaniment for the DCB to purchase. Please help your students with this research.

Show & Tell Band
The Show and Tell Band is a special DCB community outreach program. Since 1992, this smaller ensemble has traveled to Colorado elementary schools to perform an interactive music program. The musicians demonstrate their instruments and play a fun-filled concert, with the mission of sparking an interest in music and wind instruments.

Features of a Show and Tell Band Concert include:

-
Demonstrations of individual instruments (flute, oboe, clarinet, saxophone, bassoon, trumpet, french horn, trombone, euphonium, tuba, percussion)
-
Explanation of how vibration creates sound and how an instrument works
-
Demonstration of instruments playing together in concert
-
Wide variety of fun music (includes classical and Disney)
-
Fast-paced 45 minute show
-
A chance for kids to direct the band at the end of the concert!

Typically two concerts a month are scheduled. A reduced rate may be available at times for those with tight budgets and/or in lower income areas, thanks to contributions from “Friends of the DCB” and grants to the Show and Tell Band.
